I love the Newport Club! I’m from the East Coast, Queens, NY and I moved to Costa Mesa, CA to get clean and sober, and to be in a beautiful place without certain people, places, and things that were in NY! One thing that really just takes common sense to see, and realize is that drugs are EVERYWHERE! People who use or sell narcotics will always exist, places to buy drugs, and do drugs will always exist. And the things you need to get them will be everywhere or any state you go! I’m twenty two going on twenty three I was a professional ballet dancer, a decent college student, and come from an above average supporting family towards my recovery. Whether AA helps you, or NA helps you as they say in both fellowships, “Keep coming back!”. I’ve done so through MANY relapses and being both in the rooms and out the rooms. Each/every time new people and the same old people will welcome you w/open arms, and hearts! I have a sponsor in AA, whom I met at the Newport Club. It was at a meeting my sober living introduced me to. Its at 5:30PM @ the Newport Club called “Fish Outta Water” which today, May 31st, 2011 it still goes on! I’ve been in CA since October 26, 2010. I now have a boyfriend (who I found at the Newport Club) who we just had our six month anniversary! My entire family is in NY, all different parts. Yes I am very homesick! And moving from NY to CA was/is a culture shock but I’d rather deal w/these things over death. My family (Mom, Dad, little sister) are a part of my life again! I’m still working on making a support network for myself, I know that phone can be real heavy!lol so come to the Newport Club if you’re in Orange County, there’s no harm. And we’ve tried way scarier things than going to a warm, loving, place w/ AA, NA meetings. Newcomers and old timers. Early AM meetings and late PM meetings! God Bless!
